Welcome to my blog!

My name is Josie Columbus, and this is the inaugural post on my author website. I'm hoping to expand my online presence and put myself, and my writing, out into the world a bit more. I plan to use this space to explore my own thoughts on my transition from a science career to a writing career, as well as test out new forms of writing I'm not quite accustomed to.

This blog will be a bit of a catch-all for various writing projects that I am going to be undertaking during the next few months. I have been writing for my entire life, and have always found it to be the best way to pass the time. Though fiction writing has been my primary focus for most of my life, I have recently begun branching out, trying my hand at Technical Writing in my last position and, in this space, seeing how I feel about blogging.

I have several ideas for content that I can include on this blog, including:

• Out on the Road: A travel and beer blog about my road trip adventures with my girlfriend
• Writing Reflections: Thoughts on my transition from a science career to a writing career
• Short Stories: Stories I write that cannot otherwise find a home in online publications

I also hope to write on various aspects of my experiences within the queer community, the writing community, and the science community, as well as how those things all intersect. I may also at times write about how my own mental health struggles have flavored all of these experiences, and how I've dealt with that.

Thank you for your patience while I find my feet and figure out how this blog is going to fit into my personal and professional life as a writer. I hope you enjoy what you see here!
